Let the Bday Festivities Begin....

As you probably all know (since you are family and friends who read this) mine and Ashley's birthday was this past Sunday (Father's Day)! Celebrating my birthday in L.A was absolutely fabulous...but there was only one thing that could have made it better...Ash's presence! It just wasn't the same celebrating without my other half. This is the second year in a row Ash and I have celebrated our birthday apart. We have decided we will officially never do it again! hah. My roomies and I officially started celebrating my birthday when I got home from work on Saturday afternoon. They surprised me with a mini party including a cookie dough cake which was amazingly great--we soon demolished the entire thing. Saturday night we all got dressed up and went to eat for my bday at Cravings Restaurant on Sunset. I ordered the Lobster Ravioli (which I later found out from our waitress was Britney Spears favorite.) After dinner, we ended up going to a club to dance called My House, which actually looks like a real house including a bed and hot tub. haha. The entire day was wonderful-my roomies did a fabulous job of making my bday great- the only thing that would have made it better would have been of course to celebrate with Ash, Daniel, and the fam. I sure did miss all of yall! Sunday, for my actual birthday, we ended up going to Manhattan Beach for the entire day. I couldn't had asked for a prettier day. We met up with Liz, one of our Alabama friends out here, and laid out on the beach with her and the family she is staying with all day. I ended up crashing around 10ish later after we got home from the beach. You know you are getting old when you don't even stay up until twelve on your bday! Thank you everyone for the sweet cards, gifts, phone calls, and texts you sent me on my birthday. That meant so much to me! Of course you all will be receiving a thank you note in the mail very shortly. The two highlight gifts I do have to say were Ash's dozen Sprinkles cupcakes and Daniel's "London variety pack." Everyone-- thank you so much for your thoughtfulness and I miss you all very very much:)

The Working World...

This past Sunday was my very first day at BCBG Maz Azria! All in all it went great...except for the massive blisters on my feet from my heels! I've decided my first pay check is going towards comfy shoes (which are a must in the retail industry when you have to stand on your feet for 6 hrs. straight...) My first day at work was an extremely busy day. The BCBG boutique that I work at is in an excellent location and so crowds and crowds of people come shop there.. especially on the weekends! I am the front sales associate--so basically my job is to welcome the customers as they enter the store, start them dressing rooms, run and grab their size, etc. etc. It is quite a workout in itself! My boss let me know right from the start that it is imperative to greet the customer within 10 sec. of them entering the store. Supposedly all of Max Azria's family as well as himself shop at our store and it is my job to make sure the visuals and atmosphere of the store are in excellent condition! I'm really excited because I found out that I get an employee discount of 50% and there are so many outfits I have my eyes on in the store! If you want to check out their website it is : http://www.bcbg.com/. I like working as a sales associate, but i think I've come to the conclusion that I want to be my own boss one day! ( I love the idea of kicking off my heels when my feet hurt and no one thinking twice about it!

The Roosevelt

Yesterday-- Lindsey and I were tired of laying out at our own pool so we decided to head up to the Roosevelt Hotel on Hollywood Blvd. to get some much needed sun! Yesterday, the weather was absolutely perfect, not a cloud in the sky! We were really excited! "June Gloom" as the locals call it has officially set in. June Gloom refers to the weather in L.A. around this time of year: chilly and cloudy. All day, every day. No fun. I mean who knew Hollywood would be cloudy for a whole month?? Many celebrities frequent the hotel, but not one was spotted at the pool yesterday. To say the least we were disappointed; but we did enjoy the relaxing day and the amazing chicken fingers we ate for lunch. While we were laying out, many different things were taking place around us. A Dove launch party for its new product was taking place on the pool deck that night and many people were working hard to set up for the event. It was interesting and entertaining to see how much time and effort goes into executing such an event! Today. we had high hopes of venturing to Malibu for a fun day at the beach, but the cloudy weather when we woke up at 10 wasn't exactly promising. Hopefully, our Malibu trip can be rescheduled for next week...I really want to go and search for Matthew Mcconaughey!!!!

A toast to friends

Tonight-- Haley, Lindsey, and I met Jenna Bryant for dinner at a cute little bakery on 3rd called Toast. The food was absolutely incredible and I actually left the place feeling like I had to loosen my belt a couple of times! It was so fun meeting up with Jenna, who is also from Alabama, and just hanging out with friends from home. It is so much more comforting to know another person from home who is living in a totally different city with you. Jenna has been so helpful with letting us in on certain "hotspots" we should try out while we are in L.A. We already have another long list of things we need to do before the summer is over! I can't wait for all my friends to come visit! Hopefully, by then I will be a pro at this city and will know where everything is-- my goal is to not get lost while you are here! haha. Tonight was great and it was so great to catch up with Jenna and for her to meet my roomies. Toast is a cafe we will for sure be visiting again.....very soon indeed!

Let the Job Search Continue....

Updates on the job search!! This morning, I had an interview with Alice and Olivia boutique. I absolutely love this store and would definately wear their clothes if I could afford them. To give you a gist of what their clothing embodies-- the style is feminine and romantic with a touch of rocker edge. Rocker edge isn't really me, but it is an L.A. staple for sure! Check out their website: www.aliceandolivia.com. Alice and Olivia has lots and lots of dresses adorned with ruffles and bows.. which are my favorite! The interview went really well with the assistant manager and she asked me to come back tomorrow for a second interview with the boutique manager! Pray that something wonderful will happen tomorrow because I am ready to get into a constant routine and to be making some mula $$$ to help reimburse my wallet....
After returning home from my interview this morn, I received a random call. Usually, I don't answer unknown numbers but lately I have been because I have handed out my resume to so many stores. The voice on the other end turned out to be a person calling from Michael Kors who wanted to set up an interview with me next week! Today has been a great day so far because of the good news that I have heard before 2 o'clock! I'm getting pretty anxious because I want to know exactly where I am going to be working and am ready to get "officially" settled in! Hopefully something will work out. I know God has me all the way out in L.A. for some reason....

Sprinkles

Sprinkles is a tiny cupcake bakery in Beverly Hills that has become our favorite place to visit when in need of a quick sugar fix! I first heard of Sprinkles when I was watching Oprah one day and she could not stop raveing over the bakery! The idea behind the bakery is absolutely genious. The owners of this place are more than likely rolling in the dough (literally!) ha considering the long lines that we endure each time we frequent the place! My roomies and I have probably visited Sprinkles three times in the past week. To say the least, we have all decided we need to cut back on going because we will soon end up looking like a cupcake ourselves. Everyday of the week, Sprinkles offers original flavors such as vanilla, black and white, chocolate marshmallow, cinnamon sugar, dark chocolate, key lime, vanilla milk chocolate, and red velvet. On certain days of the week they offer a signature flavor which is absolutely divine such as peanut butter chocolate, strawberry, coconut, milk chocolate, mocha, and orange. I'm pretty boring-- my favorite flavor is vanilla, but I'm still waiting to try the milk chocolate. We actually went to Sprinkles yesterday and Lindsey (my roommate) filled out an application to work there! Hopefully, if she does... we will all benefit from the leftovers at the end of her work day! I checked out their website and I'm pretty sure you can order them right off the site to be delivered to your doorstep. Very good news! Ash I thought of you while writing this~ we will definately have to go while you are here..you will melt:) Visit www.sprinkles.com

Earthquake of a Week

Hooray! I have officially survived a week and a half in L.A.! I absolutely love this place! It pretty much feels as if I am on vacation at the moment. I still can't believe I will be living here for the next couple of months--it seems to good to be true. Our house is in an amazing location (West Hollywood) right between Hollywood and Beverly Hills. My roomie Haley and I have been taking daily walks to Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills. Never in my life would I have thought I could actually walk to Rodeo! This past week really has been an "earthquake of a week" considering how busy we have been, not to mention the real earthquake we experienced which registered 6.0 on the Rictor scale! Upon arrival, my first couple of days were consumed with many trips to Ikea (the best home furnishing place on earth) and to Ralphs (a convienent grocery store off Sunset Blvd not far from our street). Lindsey, Haley, and I have been intensely searching for jobs all over Robertson Blvd, Melrose Ave., and Rodeo Dr. The only store we have heard back from is BCBG Max Azria, which is where I worked in Birmingham the summer before I left for college. Last Wednesday, BCBG invited me to come and have an interactive, which was basically me acting as a sales associate and them evaluating me. It went really well, I think I was actually friendlier to all the customers then the actual sales associates were! Last Friday, the BCBG area manager called me and conducted a phone interview. She was extremely sweet and sounded as if she was really blown away by my internship experience with Bergdorf Goodman. Since then, I have just been waiting for a call back ......I'm trying not to get my hopes up about this job but hopefully I will here something soon! I'll keep you informed! Anyways..this is what I have been doing in L.A. thus far. Finally, things are beginning to settle down and I love waking up every morning to a 75 degrees and sunny day--everyday!! Puts me in the best of moods:) I miss everybody soo soo much and hate I couldn't spend Memorial Day with the fam at the lake! Daniel-- I miss you so much and am so excited we can keep up with eachother by blogging- who knew! Never thought I would have a blog but I actually enjoy writing on here since my life is full of exciting events as of lately...... much more updates are to come:) goodbye until next time... love
